Alwar Government Museum
Established in 1940 by the rulers of Alwar, Alwar Government Museum or the Palace Museum is located on the upper floors of Alwar City Palace. A visit to this historic museum is indeed the best way to revisit the royalty and grandeurs of Alwar’s past. Housing artefacts and art works from the past, the museum has a total of around 9,702 coins, 2,270 arms and weapons used by the soldiers, 234 sculptures, 1,809 objects displaying Alwar’s art and crafts, 11 inscriptions, 35 metal objects and numerous musical instruments.
Visitors can also witness amazing collections of ivory sculpture, lacquered crafts, stuffed animals, pottery work, and ancient brass works from various corners of the world. The museum remains open to visitors from 10 in the morning to 06 in the evening, and remains closed on every Friday and public holidays.
