Ajmer Government Museum
Established in 1908 by Lord Curzon and Sir John Marshall, Ajmer Government Museum is located within the historic Akbar’s Fort in Ajmer. Fondly called as the ‘Magazine’, it was initiated as a provincial museum of Rajputs and was meant to showcase the rich cultures, traditions and history of the locale. Housing numerous antiques from the past, this historical centre houses ancient paintings, scriptures, inscriptions, arms, armours, and artefacts used by the ancient rulers of Rajasthan; especially Ajmer province.
A hub for history lovers, it also has belongings that were collected from nearby regions like Pushkar, Baghera, Bharatpur, Adhai Din Ki Jhonpra, and others. A visit to Ajmer Government Museum is a once in a life experience and unfolds some of the unknown, unseen and unheard pages of history!
