The Palace on Wheels is not just among the most luxurious trains in India, but also one of the most famed luxury trains in the entire world! Starting its operation since January 26th, 1982, journey on this luxury train in Rajasthan is synonymous to revelling the royal charm and grandeurs of Rajasthan while on wheels!
More than a train, it is an epitome of luxury, comfort and a tryst with the past of India’s Desert Capital. Though it was initially meant for the personal use of the royal families and high-ranked officials, it later started serving tourists from all across the world.
The Palace on Wheels Experience

The interiors of this royal carriage is intricately done by renowned designers, and they reflect the imperial beauty and essence of Rajasthan. Starting from the furniture to the painting, handicrafts used to the furnishing; everything on the Palace on Wheels ushers the elegant charm and royalty of Rajasthan.
With a capacity of serving around 104 tourists at a time, all the 14 coaches out of the total 23 coaches of Palace on Wheels carry a legacy of offering the best hospitality and flawless service to its guests. Aesthetically built, each coach has a total of four cabins that are decked with all modern facilities and amenities.
Restaurants within the train – The Maharaja and The Maharani, offers traditional Rajasthani along with other delicacies of the world. While travelling in the Palace of Wheels, guest can delight in its 14 saloons, get rejuvenated in its spa, enjoy candid moments in a well-stocked bar cum lounge, and several other facilities. Air conditioned rooms, attached baths, running hot and cold water facility, mini pantry in each saloon, TV set with CD player, satellite phone, and round the clock internet connectivity is another offerings of the Palace on Wheels!
