History of Fairy Queen
Beginning its operation in 1855, Fairy Queen initially flaunted its beauty and grace in West Bengal under the supervision of the East India Railway Company. Later; in the year 1909, it stopped its service and was on display in Howrah till 1943. Post this, it was awarded with the ‘Heritage Status’ in 1972, and was restored to working condition 1997; before this it was transferred to the National Rail Museum in Delhi.
Currently, this steam locomotive takes its guests on a fascinating journey from the national capital Delhi to the Alwar city in Rajasthan. Later in the year 1982, it was upgraded to a luxury train in order to boost Rajasthan Tourism, and is highly inspired by the opulence of the Palace on Wheels. Being one of the oldest locomotive carrier in was also awarded as the ‘World’s Oldest Steam Locomotive’ by the Guinness Society in 1988.
The Fairy Queen Experience
A 60-seater fully air-conditioned chair car, Fairy Queen boasts of its unique charm and a rustic ambience! Starting from New Delhi, this luxury train travels to the historic Alwar city on every second and fourth Saturdays. While a journey on this heritage train accounts for an experience of a lifetime, its large glass windows offers the guests with amazing views of the countryside. Through these windows, guests can also enjoy the frontal views of the Fairy Queen.
In addition to this, this luxury train in India also has a well-maintained pantry car on-board that caters to the needs and requirements of its guests. An exquisitely designed lounge in the front part of the Fairy Queen adds more to its charm and appeal. During this royal sojourn, guests can also enjoy cultural shows during their stay in the Hotel Sariska Palace.
