Teej Festival
Teej Festival is one of the most auspicious festivals among the women in Rajasthan; especially in Jaipur. Observed during the Shravan month of Hindu Calendar (between July and August), it is a two days’ festival dedicated to Goddess Parvati.
Observed to celebrate the union of the Goddess with Lord Shiva, women during Teej Festival worships the Goddess and seek Her blessing for a blissful marital life. During the celebration, women drapes them in the most beautiful ways, wears their finest jewellery, sings traditional songs, and gathers at a common place to perform their prayers to Goddess Parvati.
Whether married or unmarried, all the women enjoy the festival by hanging swings over the tress, and decorate them with different kind of flowers. During the festivity of two days, the entire of Pink City turns into a display of colours.
