Mangarh Dham
During the British rule in Banswara, Govind Guru, an ardent patriot, inspired the local Bhil tribe with his patriotism. It was he, who encouraged the locals to rise against the cruelty and treacherous measures of British government, and gather on a hillock called Mangarh Hill in 1913 to discuss their operations.
However, as the government found this profound leader a threat to their monopoly, they opened fire at the meeting killing many of the attendants. Since then, the hill is known as MangarhDham or the ‘JalianwalaBagh of Rajasthan’, a martyr’s ground of Bhil freedom fighters.
