Jantar Mantar
Rajasthan, the ‘Desert Capital’ of India is known for an array of reasons! In addition to a plenitude of artistic and architectural marvels, the state has also contributed much towards astronomic studies and research; JantarMantar in Jaipur is one perfect example of this!
Located within a close proximity to City Palace, it is an ancient instrument that was used to study the position of stars, moons, forecast weather, eclipse prediction, and time calculation. Built by Sawai Jai Singh during in 1734 AD, JantarMantar has around nineteen instruments, some of which are still functional.
